What exactly is the configuration of a Lego block?

This is a convention for differently shaped blocks that solve different problems in construction. For example, R-type radius blocks are used for embedding corners, W-type blocks are used in the foundations of buildings, etc. For a complete list please refer to the ‘Products’ section.

What is the weight of a finished Lego block?

Depending on the concrete mixture and a block's size, its weight varies between 0.7 and 3 tonnes.

Where do you use Lego blocks?

Lego blocks are widely used in private, civil, and industrial construction, mainly for the construction of foundations of buildings and structures; storage facilities for bulk materials (sand, crushed stone, etc.) in ports, at construction sites and factories; structures for the prevention of floods, landslides, fires; as support walls, etc. Lego blocks are not used for the construction of permanent and residential buildings.

How reliable is a construction made from Lego blocks?

The high precision of the fit of one piece to another makes structures built from Lego blocks durable and reliable.

Do Lego blocks need to be reinforced?

Lego blocks do not require reinforcement as they are not used for residential construction.

How is concrete compacted?

By means of pervibrators or surface vibrators.

Can Lego blocks be manufactured right at a construction site?

Yes. Steel moulds for Lego blocks are convenient and easy to use. They can be used both at private factories and in private construction.

Why do the moulds have no bottom part?

You can use a steel sheet or a laminated particle board as a bottom. This simplifies the demoulding process, reduces the weight of the construction and significantly lowers the cost of the steel mould.

What masonry mortars are required to bind the blocks together?

The shape of Lego blocks is similar to that of the pieces of LEGO, the renowned children’s construction set. Similarly, Lego blocks are fitted with a groove-spike joint system. Adhesives and masonry mortars are not required to bind them together.

Is there a system for connecting Lego blocks in vertical joints?

No. Lego blocks are only connected together by means of the groove-spike joint system.

Can Lego blocks be used to form corners?

Yes. Radial-type Lego blocks are used for this (R).

How are the moulds demoulded?

Moulds are demoulded diagonally, forming two L-shaped halves. A special wrench is used for this.

How do you remove a finished block from the mould and transfer it?

Since Lego blocks do not have any lifting lugs, a special lifting clamp—a lifting beam—is used to transfer them. When using a forklift, the lifting beam is coupled to the adapter, which is secured to the forks.
The block is then turned upside down using the turner.
For a complete list of lifting equipment please refer to the ‘Equipment’ section.

How long is the service life of steel moulds?

If you use our moulds properly and ensure maintenance is provided timely, they will endure over 1000 pouring cycles.

Can one mould be used for the production of blocks of various lengths?

Yes. A divider allowing you to change the length of the block is used for this. It is supplied as additional equipment.

Is it possible to manufacture customized steel moulds for Lego blocks?

Yes. We only need a statement of work from a customer.
